Aticara's IoT Gateway:
As IoT grows and billions of connected devices enter the world, one of the most critical components of future internet of things systems may be a device known as an IoT gateway. An IoT gateway aggregates sensor data, translates between sensor protocols, processes sensor data before sending it onward and more.
The importance of IoT gateways is understandable when you consider the explosion in connected "things" that has occurred over the past few years. With scores of protocols, connectivity models and energy profiles and the highly dispersed nature of IoT systems, gateways are needed to manage and control these complex environments.
Aticara's IoT gateways perform several critical functions such as device connectivity, protocol translation, data filtering and processing, security, updating, management and more. It also operate as platforms for application code that processes data and becomes an intelligent part of an edge device-enabled system.
Aticara IoT Gateway offers:
IoT Gateway supported Protocols
:Zwave, ZigBee, LoRaWAN and WmBus
Aticara 's IoT Cloud:
Aticara's IoT Cloud is designed to store and process Internet of Things (IoT) data. It has massively scalable real-time event processing engine. It is built to take in the massive volumes of data generated by devices, sensors, websites, applications and initate actions for real-time responses.
IoT Cloud is part of Aticara's IoT ecosystem and will enable users to manage Smart IoT devices from an orchestration platform via REST APIs.
On the north-bound, the Aticara's IoT Cloud will provide a series of REST APIs to an external entity for User and Device management.
Aticara's IoT Cloud as a system will hold the business logic and the data needed to accomplish the User and Device management. On the south-bound, the it will talk to the IoT Gateway through a secured IPV4 connection.
Aticara's IoT Cloud is based on the following set of pre-defined design principles.
API DRIVEN :
It is designed to perform the functionalities to control and monitor smart IoT devices. An efficient way to provide access for monitoring and controlling the devices is through unified REST APIs. Hence It follows API Driven design principle.
SCALABILITY :
IoT is growing at a very fast rate. Aticara's IoT Cloud is designed to support the fast growing IoT automation customer base. Hence It follows the scalability design principle so that it can scale out by adding new Aticara's IoT nodes, data base nodes, caching of frequently used data and asynchronous data processing without need of system downtime.
EXTENSIBILITY :
IoT is growing at a very fast rate and so is the rate at which the new IoT devices are being developed. Hence IoT Cloud follows Extensibility design principle. Its components are designed to be extensible to add support for new devices and their functionalities.
HIGH AVAILABILITY :
IoT Could user should be able to monitor and control IoT devices whenever needed. Hence It follows High Availability design principle by deploying the cluster of application instances and database instances. Also a cluster of load balancer will improve the system availability further by routing the requests to available nodes.
RELIABILITY :
Aticara's IoT Cloud will not malfunction while performing its functionalities. Hence Reliability design principle is followed while designing IoT Cloud components, so that northbound integrated applications can seamlessly monitor and control the devices.
SECURE :
Aticara's IoT Cloud communicates with external entities on its north and south interfaces. It protected from intrusion and loss of data integrity at these interfaces. IoT Cloud providing TLS encryption security on north bound interface. On south bound interface, apart from a secured tunnel communication, it will provide public/private key encrypted communication with the IoT agent.
DEVICE PROFILING :
Each device has its own profile and profile represents various device specific attributes like name, description color etc. Predefined ‘Profiles’ are identified in the system to bring the needed abstraction of devices. The profile may vary from device to device. Device profile is also termed as device metadata. Cloud services maintains device profile separately for each device.
BACKUP & RECOVERY :
IoT Cloud provides functionality to monitor and control growing number of devices. It maintains the status and metadata of those devices. Such device data needs to be backed up to recover from any disaster to restore the Cloud functionality. It follows Backup and Recovery design principle by technologies like Geo Redundant Server infrastructure for handling Disaster Recovery scenarios.
